Biography

Meg has been a part of the Blue Ridge CrossFit Family since 2022 and is now happy to join the team of BRCF Coaches. She has always had a passion for fitness whether it’s running, mountain biking, doing triathlons, spartan races or CrossFit WODs.

Meg grew up in the Asheville area and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Education from Appalachian State University. She is married and has four boys who love to join in on CrossFit workouts when they can.

Meg and her husband, Eric, are the owners of AVO (Asheville Vehicle Outfitters) which is a local overland and offroad shop in Mills River, NC. When Meg is not at the gym or chauffeuring her kids around, she’s usually at AVO making YouTube videos, working on the website, going to overland events or taking care of payroll.

“Although I’ve always been active, joining Blue Ridge CrossFit has improved my life dramatically. It has taught me to keep pushing when I want to quit and the importance of discipline and consistency. I also love the people at Blue Ridge. It’s not just a gym, but a community of people who challenge each other to be better every day. I’m happy to join the team of coaches and I hope to inspire those around me and challenge them to be better as well.”

Where are you originally from & and what brought you to WNC?
I was born in Tampa, FL but grew up in Fairview, NC. We moved back to WNC to be close to family and start our own business, AVO.

What drew you to CrossFit?
Eric started CrossFit before me and knew that I would love it. I’ve always been very active and love a challenge. Having the people and coaches around me to push me and be better has been one the best parts of joining Blue Ridge.

What Sports and Activities did you participate in growing up?
Childhood: I played soccer and volleyball up until college. Young adult: I used to do a lot of triathlons, running races and Spartan races with Eric. & what you do now: Now, I still enjoy participating in Spartan races and running races when I can. I’ve also started learning more of how to compete in tactical and physical events. I’m always up for a new challenge.

Why did you want to become a CrossFit coach and what do you love most about it?
I’ve learned to much at Blue Ridge and I know how much it has challenged me to be better. I want to inspire those around me to be better and to be able to push past the feeling of wanting to quit. I love that when the workouts get difficult or feel impossible, you must work past that urge to give up and press on. It’s not only a physical challenge, but a mental one as well.

A unique, fun hobby or talent you have outside of CrossFit?
I really love to sing. Most people don’t know that about me, but I also play piano and guitar when I have some free time.

How would you describe our BRCF community?
Our BRCF community is just that…a COMMUNITY. Everyone is so much fun to be around, encouraging, and they don’t hold back!
